We have launched our latest tool: the CO2 dashboard. Offering insight to our clients into their fleets’ CO2 emissions and CO2 hotspots.
In the EU, trucks and heavy duty vehicles are responsible for about 25% of the CO2 emissions from road transport in the EU and some 6% of total EU emissions. Given the current drive to tackle climate change and global warming, transport and logistics are seeking to improve their environmental performance. With the CO2 Dashboard, we offer the necessary solution to gaining insight into CO2 emissions.
The dashboard provides an image of emissions based on location data and fuel consumption, thus putting the user in a position to be able to monitor, recognise, and possibly upgrade their most polluting vehicles, and seek to improve driver behaviour where necessary.
Lowering your carbon footprint
With the introduction of binding Euopean CO2 standards for trucks and heavy duty vehicles, it is now more important than ever for the logistics and transport industry to be aware of all aspects of the performance of their fleet. Having precise and relevant information in hand transport and logistics companies, and other sectors making use of heavy duty vehicles, can improve their operations and aim to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
The dashboard shows information related to
– the highest CO2 emitting fleets of a company,
– the total amount of CO2 emissions (of all vehicles) each month,
– CO2 emission hotspots, and
– CO2 emission by Points of Interest (set up by the user).
With this insight a carrier can then, to name one example, choose to avoid certain locations at specific times when route planning, or seek to improve driver behaviour and reduce unnecessary idling truck engines by drivers. Read more about avoiding waiting times and greener route planning here, and check out TruckTruckGo for yourself.
Going beyond the industry: the governmental level
The Dutch government has committed to reducing CO2 emissions in the Netherlands by half by 2030 and by 95% by 2050. The CO2 dashboard of Route42 is also a useful tool for governments. The information gathered gives them an overview of problematic places with high greenhouse gas concentrations that need to be addressed. This enables them to take the necessary measures and set incentives to improve air quality.
